\"NASW-MI<\/a>Four Detroit Mercy Social Work students received the distinctive honor to represent their profession through leadership roles within the National Association of Social Workers \u2013 Michigan Chapter (NASW-MI).<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) seniors, Destiny Burns, Kristen Hayes, Kaila Hemphill and Jessica Weick<\/span> were highlighted in the January 2024 <\/span>NASW-MI Social Work Student Update, <\/span><\/i>a <\/span>digital publication. Burns, Hayes and Weick serve as student ambassadors for NASW-MI. BSW student ambassadors advance NASW-MI initiatives, while raising awareness.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Hemphill is the BSW student representative on the NASW-MI Chapter Board of Directors, where she serves as the voice for the nearly 4,000 BSW students enrolled in the 22 accredited BSW programs across Michigan.<\/span> <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cServing the profession is an incredible honor, and we are so proud of our UDM BSW students,\u201d said Janet Joiner, associate professor and chair of Detroit Mercy\u2019s Department of Social Work. \u201cIt should be noted that although the University of Detroit Mercy BSW Program is the smallest of the 22 accredited BSW programs in Michigan, we regularly have BSW students who are selected to serve with NASW-MI in a leadership capacity.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
