{"id":54,"date":"2017-11-13T14:22:36","date_gmt":"2017-11-13T14:22:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.udmercy.edu\/pa161\/?p=54"},"modified":"2018-03-09T14:26:18","modified_gmt":"2018-03-09T14:26:18","slug":"54","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.udmercy.edu\/pa161\/2017\/11\/13\/54\/","title":{"rendered":"Strategically Planning a New Inter-Professional Oral Health Model"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>We are planning to develop a presentation for the 2018 Michigan Oral Health Conference in East Lansing.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s our first draft concept!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Title: Strategically Planning a New Inter-Professional Oral Health Model<\/p>\n<p>Narrative: The Michigan Initiative for Maternal and Infant Oral Health was funded for one year at six pilot sites to examine the feasibility and impact of establishing a registered dental hygienist within an OBGYN medical clinic.\u00a0 While this was an important step toward reaching patients in the first year, it was essential to strategically plan a more robust sustainable model while concurrently building the new program.\u00a0 This session will describe the process of collecting input from clinicians across Michigan to standardize workflow and expand the scope of services rendered to include pregnant mothers and their children up to age 3 years.<\/p>\n<p>Objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attendees will learn how long-term strategic planning concepts fit into initial project launch meetings<\/li>\n<li>Attendees will receive a toolkit of planning document templates and sample teamwork sessions<\/li>\n<li>Attendees will be able to critique a working model as case study<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Essentially, we plan to develop a presentation on how we brought process improvement (Lean) techniques to the table and planned for the next year\u2019s grant-funded program while concurrently implementing a program at six sites immediately launching with one month lead time.\u00a0 This is an important lesson that many clinicians may overlook.\u00a0 From the very first day of this project, it is\/was essential to think about post-grant sustainability!<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are planning to develop a presentation for the 2018 Michigan Oral Health Conference in East Lansing.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s our first draft concept!
