O Rex Gentium<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

O King of our desire whom we despise,
\nKing of the nations never on the throne,
\nUnfound foundation, cast-off cornerstone,
\nRejected joiner, making many one,
\nYou have no form or beauty for our eyes,
\nA King who comes to give away his crown,
\nA King within our rags of flesh and bone.
\nWe pierce the flesh that pierces our disguise,
\nFor we ourselves are found in you alone.
\nCome to us now and find in us your throne,
\nO King within the child within the clay,
\nO hidden King who shapes us in the play
\nOf all creation. Shape us for the day
\nYour coming Kingdom comes into its own.<\/p>\n
