Sometimes it takes days, , , and days . . . before the harness of work settles on my shoulders. \u201cWhy do this?\u201d Maybe, I sometimes mutter, just to prove that I\u2019ve still got game, just to keep my reputation, maybe just to win some advantage[s]. I call those gloomy, dogged, determined days.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, though, I get the more in my life, not proving, not winning, not muttering. Sometimes just loving. When that happens the time of work comes alive in me and I want to go dancing.<\/p>\n<p>Rumi\u2019s \u201cIn the Arc of Your Mallet\u201d says a time for dancing. A love song for sure.<\/p>\n<p>Have a blest day. Read the poem out loud, if you can, with pauses.<\/p>\n<p>john sj<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In The Arc Of Your Mallet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t go anywhere without me.<br \/>\nLet nothing happen in the sky apart from me,<br \/>\nor on the ground, in this world or that world,<br \/>\nwithout my being in its happening.<br \/>\nVision, see nothing I don&#8217;t see.<br \/>\nLanguage, say nothing.<br \/>\nThe way the night knows itself with the moon,<br \/>\nbe that with me. Be the rose<br \/>\nnearest to the thorn that I am.<br \/>\nI want to feel myself in you when you taste food,<br \/>\nin the arc of your mallet when you work,<br \/>\nwhen you visit friends, when you go<br \/>\nup on the roof by yourself at night.<br \/>\nThere&#8217;s nothing worse than to walk out along the street<br \/>\nwithout you.
