Monday, the last February day in 2016 <\/strong>\u00a0\u201cIt can be your brain, your
\nfingers, your toes,
\nYou can listen anywhere”<\/p>\n

Poems appear sometimes like this \u2014 a friend sends me a poem; \u00a0it sits on the edge of awareness for 2 months; \u00a0I finally notice the poem, read it, am moved by it, look around internet places to learn a little about the poet, and write a post to contextualize it. \u00a0 Paying attention to one poem (i.e., last Friday\u2019s about the little girl and the table cloth) introduces me to a poetry list titled \u201cPoetry \u2014 for better or worse: \u00a0My favorite poems, one by one”<\/u>\u00a0 at a cheeky website \u00a0http:\/\/tiltingourheadsup.blogspot.com<\/a>. \u00a0So far I have not found the editor\u2019s name.<\/p>\n

For the last day in February, how do you like this poem, written by a fifth grader? \u00a0 It reminds me to thank February, 2016 for its blessings. \u00a0 \u00a0Have a good day. \u00a0 Aloud w. pauses.<\/p>\n

When you listen you reach
\ninto dark corners and
\npull out your wonders.
\nWhen you listen your
\nideas come in and out
\nlike they were waiting in line.
\nYour ears don\u2019t always listen.
\nIt can be your brain, your
\nfingers, your toes.
\nYou can listen anywhere.
\nYour mind might not want to go.
\nIf you can listen you can find
\nanswers to questions you didn\u2019t know.
\nIf you have listened, truly
\nlistened, you don\u2019t find your
\nself alone.<\/p>\n
