{"id":206,"date":"2013-12-20T00:00:11","date_gmt":"2013-12-20T00:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.udmercy.edu\/mission-and-identity\/?p=206"},"modified":"2019-09-18T16:51:33","modified_gmt":"2019-09-18T20:51:33","slug":"dec-20-last-work-day-of-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.udmercy.edu\/poetry\/2013\/12\/20\/dec-20-last-work-day-of-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Dec 20, last work day of 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Friday, \u00a0December 20, \u00a0 \u00a0 &#8220;O Key of David&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;O Clavis David, et sceptrum domus Israel: qui aperis, et nemo claudit; \u00a0claudis, et nemo aperit : veni et educ vinctum de domo carceris, sedentem in tenebris et in umbra mortis.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">translation<\/span>:<br \/>\n&#8220;O key of David and scepter of the house of Israel : you open and no one closes; \u00a0you close and no one opens : Come and lead us out from the chains of this prison house, where we sit in darkness and the shadow of death.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Early this morning in the dark of our Lansing-Reilly kitchen, I made tea and oatmeal and savored stillness. \u00a0The last work morning of this year, a turning toward a time for noticing kinship at a slower pace. \u00a0 It came to me that the words of today&#8217;s O Antiphon do not sing of a single person.
