THE LIGHTEST TOUCH<\/p>\n
Good poetry begins with
\nthe lightest touch,
\na breeze arriving from nowhere,
\na whispered healing arrival,
\na word in your ear,
\na settling into things,
\nthen, like a hand in the dark,
\nit arrests the whole body,
\nsteeling you for revelation.
\nIn the silence that follows
\na great line,
\nyou can feel Lazarus,
\ndeep inside
\neven the laziest, most deathly afraid
\npart of you,
\nlift up his hands and walk toward the light.<\/p>\n
