Taut, clean words that opened my soul this winter morning shrugging into its January morning warm jacket of low flying clouds. \u00a0 Over our city, over our McNichols Campus, over our part of a land just now worn down with fear and anger and high-pitched debating. \u00a0 Not only our neighborhood, not only, even, our country . . . \u00a0our world. \u00a0That\u2019s \u00a0why I am leading with Warsan Shire\u2019s world Atlas and following with two sayings from Joy Harjo\u2019s 2015 book of poems,\u00a0<u>Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings<\/u>, (New York: W H Norton, 2015).<\/p>\n<p>Joy, thank you.<\/p>\n<p>Try reading each out loud, with some slow breathing in between.<\/p>\n<p>Back Friday have a blest day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Today\u2019s post # 1<\/strong>\u00a0Joy Harjo &#8211;\u00a0\u201cConflict Resolution&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Humans were created by mistake. Someone laughed<br \/>\nand we came crawling out. That was the beginning<br \/>\nof the story; we were hooked then. What a wild<br \/>\ndilemma, how to make it to the stars, on a highway<br \/>\nslick with fear \u2014<\/p>\n<p>page 13<\/p>\n<p>Listened to an alto sax player jamming on the street.<br \/>\nHe played a few jazz standards, mostly popular tunes<br \/>\nthe people would know who changed buses there. Nice<br \/>\ntone. I walked from the hotel into the dusk of the city to<br \/>\nlisten closer, to speak with him. l We shared names, gear<br \/>\ninfo, and other stories of the saxophone road.
