\u201cneither earth
\nnor
\nheart lies scarred
\nwith
\nyour passing,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMarch comes in like a lion but goes out like a lamb\u201d \u00a0a saying meant, perhaps, to encourage refugees from February to believe in daffodils and tulips and fresh grass. \u00a0 Jim Janda\u2019s poetry emerges\u00a0from a heart so brave and playful and tender. \u00a0 Readers of the list have witnessed before the play of Jim\u2019s improbable eye and ear; \u00a0I often wonder how his imagination finds such tenderness in such mean human places.\u00a0 Is the Madonna of the Subway homeless, waiting to surprise the passers-by with their own courage? \u00a0 However we might read today\u2019s post, Janda\u2019s language rewards two or three readings, out loud, with pauses. \u00a0 So will breathing in and out the promises March makes even when its cold gusts frighten us. \u00a0 Have a blest weekend.<\/p>\n
