{"id":3706,"date":"2020-11-27T00:00:05","date_gmt":"2020-11-27T05:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.udmercy.edu\/poetry\/?p=3706"},"modified":"2020-11-27T09:59:09","modified_gmt":"2020-11-27T14:59:09","slug":"friday-november-27-morning-sun-fallen-leaves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.udmercy.edu\/poetry\/2020\/11\/27\/friday-november-27-morning-sun-fallen-leaves\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday, November 27;  morning sun &amp; fallen leaves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Friday, November 27 \u2014 first day after U.S. Thanksgiving<\/p>\n<p>This delicate and demanding Hopkins poem is beautiful; these days of less and lesser sun make\u00a0a sweet time for Gerard Manley Hopkins\u2019\u00a0brilliant, understated poem about soft paced sorrow, and beauty, and the griefs of 2020,\u00a0another year that, with its gusts of wind and chilly temperatures,\u00a0 salutes its ending days.<\/p>\n<p>However, not every day will be gloomy. \u00a0This morning looks gloomy, but\u00a0it carries promise of autumn\u2019s best gifts to come.
