And more than once.\u201d So I read Denise Levertov\u2019s poem \u201cMaking Peace\u201d again and then looked at the photo of Nurse Deborah Hughes. Paying attention to these moments in my recent past reminded me that the prayer taught by St Ignatius in The Spiritual Exercises is centered on paying attention to \u201csome more important places in which I have experienced understanding, consolatioin or desolation\u201d (Sp Ex 118). That got me reading back through the week\u2019s posts (<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.udmercy.edu\/poetry\/\">https:\/\/sites.udmercy.edu\/poetry\/<\/a>). It feels like a helpful way to enter Friday morning. Here are some lines from the week that caught my attention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI massaged (Utash\u2019s) neck, and got his circulation going.\u201d (Thursday)<\/p>\n<p>\u201c . . . an engineering feat as well as artistic creativity.<br \/>\nThe process of shaping and stacking the stones into a simple oval shape is challenging and intense. \u201c (Tuesday)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Delight at our moment\u2019s kinship<br \/>\nfreed us from fear<br \/>\nfrom strategy and burden.\u201d (Wednesday)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don\u2019t care whether we get some overnight frosts or another snow storm;<br \/>\nwinter ended yesterday out there at the farm.\u201d(Monday)<\/p>\n<p>Have a good weekend.
