Monday August 4 \u00a0– \u00a0start-up time<\/p>\n

Rabindranath Tagore\u2019s Poem # 1 from Gitanjali<\/span>\u00a0will probably\u00a0be familiar to readers of this list. \u00a0Today it appears \u00a0for the third time. \u00a0No surprise perhaps because I love it as a blessing looking out into the future.<\/p>\n

Thou hast made me endless,\u00a0 such is thy pleasure.<\/p>\n

This frail vessel thou emptiest again and again,<\/p>\n

and fillest it ever with fresh life.<\/p>\n

This little flute of a reed thou hast carried over hills and dales,<\/p>\n

and hast breathed through it melodies eternally new.<\/p>\n

At the immortal touch of thy hands my little heart<\/p>\n

loses its limits in joy and gives birth to utterance ineffable.<\/p>\n

Thy infinite gifts come to me only on these very small hands of mine.<\/p>\n

Ages pass, and still thou pourest,<\/p>\n

and still there is room to fill.<\/p>\n

p.s. \u00a0Medicine Bundle<\/b><\/p>\n

A Lakota soul-friend family, Don and Paulette Montileaux & their children, invite me to dinner each year when I spend some days on Pine Ridge. \u00a0 \u00a0Don had read my May 22 post a few days before we gathered. \u00a0After dinner he gave me a medicine bundle, one of the gifts offered-for-sale in places where his reputation \u00a0generates a market that helps support the more serious labor of his painting. \u00a0 \u201cWhy don\u2019t you find a small rock when you pray at \u00a0your place in the badlands and another small rock when you pray on the shore of Lake Michigan and let the bundle remind you of both sacred places?\u201d \u00a0 So I did. \u00a0I took a pic this morning. \u00a0The stone on the left with a little sage I found where I pray in the Badlands. \u00a0The stone on the right I found near the shore of Lake Michigan about 3:15 am on July 30 while heading home to Motown. \u00a0 I\u2019ll be keeping this prayer bundle as a reminder.<\/p>\n
