{"id":779,"date":"2014-09-17T00:00:03","date_gmt":"2014-09-17T00:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.udmercy.edu\/mission-and-identity\/?p=779"},"modified":"2019-09-18T16:50:12","modified_gmt":"2019-09-18T20:50:12","slug":"sept-17-the-vision-does-not-deceive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.udmercy.edu\/poetry\/2014\/09\/17\/sept-17-the-vision-does-not-deceive\/","title":{"rendered":"Sept 17 &#8220;the vision . . . does not deceive&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wednesday, \u00a0September 17 \u00a0 Habakkuk, Prophet<\/p>\n<p><b>Today\u2019s Post:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Prophet Habakkuk left almost no recorded life behind, except that his prophecies seem to have been proclaimed sometime near \u00a0600 BCE. \u00a0 But these few verses in chapter 2 blow me away every time I read them. \u00a0 Today\u2019s post:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><b>For the vision has its own time,<br \/>\n<\/b><b>presses on to fulfillment;<br \/>\n<\/b><b>does not deceive;<\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\u00a0<b>if it delays,<br \/>\n<\/b><b>wait for it,<\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><b>for come it will,<br \/>\n<\/b><b>without fail. \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><b>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><b>Habakkuk \u00a02:2-3<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Habakkuk came to mind because this afternoon at 1:00, across from the Livernois Entrance we have a ground-breaking \u2014 \u00a06 or 7 people with hard hats, shovels and short speeches. \u00a0This marks the beginning of a Livernois renovation from The Lodge to 8 Mile. \u00a0By November, the contractors tell us, they will complete phase one: \u00a0new handsome sidewalks and such. \u00a0 There\u2019s lots more to do, hence the expression \u201cphase 1\u201d in yesterday\u2019s Campus Connection announcement (check it out: 2 paragraphs of info &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.udmercy.edu\/campus_connection\/\">http:\/\/www.udmercy.edu\/campus_connection\/<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>I am surely not alone at UDM in longing for the renewal of Livernois; \u00a0the old joke got tired for me years ago: \u00a0\u201cMom and Dad drive their 17 year old down the Lodge to look at UDM\u2019s campus. \u00a0They come up onto Livernois, turn left, look around, take another left, and drive back home; \u00a0and never get to campus.\u201d \u00a0Fr.
