{"id":868,"date":"2014-10-31T00:00:30","date_gmt":"2014-10-31T00:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.udmercy.edu\/mission-and-identity\/?p=868"},"modified":"2019-09-18T16:50:05","modified_gmt":"2019-09-18T20:50:05","slug":"868","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.udmercy.edu\/poetry\/2014\/10\/31\/868\/","title":{"rendered":"Oct 31 &#8211; Blessing of hands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Friday, October 31 &#8211; \u00a0&#8220;Trust that your hands will know the right thing to do even when you do not.&#8221;<\/b><\/p>\n<p>End of the work week, \u00a0end of October, \u00a0still autumn but heading in winter\u2019s direction. \u00a0 Today\u2019s post comes \u00a0from the health care tradition of the Sisters of Mercy \u2014 if I\u2019ve counted accurately, it\u2019s the 169th since #1 appeared in late September 2013 and The \u201cBlessing of Hand\u2019s\u201d third time on the Work Day list. \u00a0It\u2019s worth repeating. \u00a0Reading it out loud, with pauses for breathing, makes for good prayer.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s\u00a0Halloween too; \u00a0an evolved form of \u201cThe Eve of All Hallows\u201d (i.e., the night before the Feast of All Saints on Nov 1). \u00a0In the Christian faith tradition tomorrow is a day to praise the sacredness of every human being, those walking around on the earth now and those who have gone before. \u00a0Maybe that\u2019s why The Blessing of Hands came to mind this morning.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/weather.com\" target=\"_blank\">Weather.com<\/a> says it will rain a good bit today in Detroit with wind gusts up into the 24 mph range. We should see leaves flying all over the place. \u00a0Clouds and more strong wind tomorrow. \u00a0 Sun all day Sunday should rinse the air and maybe begin to show off the delicate traceries of tiny tree branches without their summer leaves.<\/p>\n<p>Have a good weekend.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>john sj<\/p>\n<p><strong>Today\u2019s Post: Blessing of Hands<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hold up your hands and look at them<br \/>\nSee your hands as God sees them.<br \/>\nRecognize the source of their power.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine your life in and beyond the classroom. See the work of your hands in kitchens and corridors, on tennis and basketball courts, in dorms and dining rooms, at planning tables and parties and in gatherings of every kind. Choose to use your hands this year for good.
