Leonardo Romero-Baraja, a\u00a0<\/b>ReBuilDetroit<\/a> Scholar and Honors, Biology Student provides three tips that will give current and perspective students a <\/b>competitive<\/b><\/span> edge when applying for Medical School<\/b><\/em>.<\/p>\n “Challenge Yourself! Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself! No matter how big or small…don’t be afraid to take the hardest classes…Being able to show you took on\u00a0 challenges and came out a better person, regardless of what the result was after that challenge is a big plus in any school’s eyes.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n “Do what you love! Be yourself in everything you do! Do what makes you happy…Pick extracurricular activities with that in mind. Don’t feel like you have to replicate or do exactly what others have done before you in order to succeed…Pursue volunteer experiences that interest you.”<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n “Be reflective! Make sure you’re reflective in everything you do as you experience it…Make sure you’re thinking about that experience at the clinic or that experience you had volunteering…You’re going to be asked to think about how those things changed you as a person.
