What is a search advocate?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A search advocate is a trained member of a search committee whose role is to ensure equity and validity in the search process. The seven core values of search advocacy are:<\/p>\n

  1. Collaboration- working together towards a shared goal<\/li>\n
  2. Curiosity- focusing on trying to understand, rather than making quick judgements<\/li>\n
  3. Empathy- being open to others’ thoughts, feelings, and experiences<\/li>\n
  4. Equity- removing barriers and ensuring everyone has the support they need to succeed<\/li>\n
  5. Hospitality- providing a welcoming environment that meets the needs and desires of all<\/li>\n
  6. Inclusion- valuing each person and their differences, supporting the full participation of all<\/li>\n
  7. Respect- treating others with courtesy and dignity<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
