Over 35 students, staff, and faculty members were in attendance.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Two representatives from the\u00a0non-partisan\u00a0League of Women Voters,\u00a0Detroit chapter President Rhonda Craig and\u00a0voting rights activist\u00a0Charles Thomas, Jr.,\u00a0presented information aimed particularly at first-time voters. Information\u00a0included essential deadlines and locations for registering to vote and casting absentee ballots. Both speakers emphasized the importance of citizens exercising their right\u2014or, as Thomas enthusiastically put it\u2014<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">power<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0to vote.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The presenters also shared with attendees the League of Women Voters\u2019 website, Vote411.org, which citizens can use as a one-stop shop for\u00a0finding their\u00a0poll locations\u00a0and sample ballots.
