Detroit Mercy Students take First Place for the ISACA Cybersecurity Case Competition once again!

The ISACA Detroit Chapter 10th Annual Cybersecurity Scholarship Case Competition took place on the weekend of March 8, at Oakland University’s campus.

Students Hannah Burdinie and Andrew Caswell, team name “ZeroTrust,” won first place for their strategies, skills, and talents. The prize for first place this year was a scholarship of $4,000.

Nearby academic institutions; Oakland University, Wayne State University, Eastern Michigan Universities, and Lawrence Technological University competed in the event. Three teams from the University of Detroit Mercy participated in the competition.

Designed to simulate real-world scenarios, the ISACA Cybersecurity Scholarship Case Competition provided students with a platform to use practical skills and gain hands-on experience.  Participants collaborated on case studies in teams of one or more. They then presented their conclusions to a panel of industry professionals.

Competitors were not required to be Cybersecurity majors. Those interested in participating next year can contact Prof. Anne Kohnke, Department of Cybersecurity and Information Systems, at kohnkean@udmercy.edu.
