Student Awards

  • My masters students Mario Padilla Rodriguez and Ahlam Al Mohammad won 3rd place in the Detroit Urban Healthcare AI Challenge for their project proposal Fed-Health (Federated Health AI Models): The project explores the use of ”Federated Learning” across healthcare silos (hospitals or health institutions) to train high-accuracy deep learning models (for diagnosing medical images, such as x-rays, CT scan,  dermoscopy images) with strong privacy guarantees; models are trained without the data ever leaving its local institutions/branches.
  • My students Samar Bayan and Mohammad Mokhaddar won 2nd place in Engineering and Science Research symposium at Detroit Mercy 2021, for their class project “Deep learning for intrusion detection in intra-vehicle networks”
