Reignite the Jesuit spirit

University of Detroit Mercy alumni often say they were inspired by the mission of the University’s Jesuit founders and want to learn more. The Midwest Jesuits of the Chicago-Detroit and Wisconsin Provinces are sponsoring two ways to do just that, one featuring one of Detroit Mercy’s Jesuit professors.

With Christmas just around the corner, Lent seems a long way away, but it’s always good to plan.

The Midwest Jesuits are hosting a series of Lenten Mornings of Reflection across the country. On Sunday, March 5, Fr. Tim Hipskind, S.J. director of service learning at Detroit Mercy’s Institute for Leadership & Service, will be the speaker at one of these events held at The Dearborn Inn, 20301 Oakwood Boulevard in Dearborn, Mich. Alumni who live in Minnesota, Florida, Wisconsin, Arizona, Ohio, Nebraska and Illinois will also be able to attend talks by other Jesuits. For more information, contact Margie O’Neill at 800-537-3736.

And if you’re not willing to wait:

“Ignatian spirituality reminds us that God is present in our daily life, and in its joys and fears in life’s challenges,” we are reminded at jesuitprayer.org, a prayer site sponsored by the Midwest Jesuits.

Each day a daily scripture verse is posted beside Ignatian reflections and prayers. You can subscribe to a daily email, submit a prayer request or download a prayer card. And you can also download a Jesuit prayer app for your smartphone.
