Alumna-staff member’s work showcased by U.S. Dept. of Ed

Earlier this year Lara Wasner ’96, ’05, who is director of Language & Cultural Training at University of Detroit Mercy, took a delegation of University faculty and Detroit K-12 teachers of arts and social sciences to to northeast Brazil for collaborative learning and project development. Participants developed a curriculum project designed to complement learning and help internationalize their school and district.

The project was paid for by a $93,252 grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad (GPA) Program. Because the project was so unique, the Fullbright-Hays group showcased it in a webinar as an example of the great work that can be done and featured it on the cover of their annual report.
