We have gotten a little behind in writing about Titans basketball phenom Antoine Davis, but hope we can be forgiven. At the pace he’s been setting records, it’s a little hard to keep up.
On Monday, for the 12th time in his already illustrious career, graduate senior Antoine Davis was named the Co-Nike Horizon League Player of the Week, sharing the award with Milwaukee’s BJ Freeman. And yes, that’s another record. Davis — who has now earned the HL accolade three times this year — takes the glory from former Green Bay standout Keifer Sykes, who won it 11 times from 2011-15.
He was later named the Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week, the first Titan to ever earn that honor and just the second Horizon League player to receive the accolade.
Davis played in just one game last week, but it was memorable as he scored a season-high 42 points at IUPUI, tying his career-high by going 16-of-30 from the field and 8-of-18 from three with five assists.
He had 25 points in the first half on his way to his second-straight 40-point game. Davis became the first Titan in school history to record back-to-back 40-point games and the first player in Division I to accomplish the feat since Marquette’s Markus Howard did it early in the 2019-20 season. He also moved to second all-time in NCAA history with 3,274 career points — 393 behind Pete Maravich’s NCAA-record 3,667 — and extended his NCAA record in 3-pointers to 521.
Davis and the Titans will be in action Friday as Detroit Mercy travels to Pennsylvania to take on Robert Morris in the #MetroSeries at 7 p.m. For information on how to watch, click here.
