Once again, we have taken on Oakland University for the Detroit Mercy vs. OU Donor Challenge, which starts today and runs through Friday.
The winner will be the school with gifts from the most donors and will be announced during the Detroit Mercy/Oakland University men’s basketball game on Feb. 9. The losing school’s mascot must wear the winning team’s jersey at the game.
Detroit Mercy won the first challenge in 2016 and OU came out on top on the final day to win in 2017. That’s why this year’s theme is “This Means War.” Detroit Mercy is running several crowdfunding campaigns in conjunction with the challenge, so donors can direct their gifts to projects or programs that are most meaningful to them. Check them out at impact.udmercy.edu.
“We were disappointed with the come-from-behind loss last year,” said Anita Joyce-Barnes, assistant director of Annual Giving at Detroit Mercy. “Given the enthusiastic support of Detroit Mercy’s alumni, paired with student participation, we expect that Tommy Titan will not have to wear an OU jersey.”
