Every year, Crain’s Detroit Business honors 40 metro Detroit leaders who are under 40 years old. Not to be outdone in honoring young and young-ish people making their mark, Detroit Business annually honors 30 metro Detroit movers and shakers who are in their 30s. University of Detroit Mercy has alumni on each of these lists, all of them are graduates of Detroit Mercy Law.
Here are the three honorees.
Samantha Borden ’10 is the sole Detroit Mercy grad on the 30 in Their Thirties list in Detroit Business. Borden is assistant general counsel for Diplomat Pharmacy, Inc., a Flint, Mich.-based specialty pharmacy that provides medication for long-term or complex health issues. In the three years since the company went public, its annual revenue has grown to $4.5 billion from $3 billion, Detroit Business writes.
In his duties as an assistant Wayne County executive, Khalil Rahal ’09 is tasked with addresses the issues that directly affect Wayne County’s economic competitiveness. His goal is to return underused or vacant county-owned properties to the tax rolls through creative deals with developers.
Joseph Vernon ’05 is the resident director of the Detroit office of Miller Canfield, the oldest and one of the largest law firms in the state, overseeing a team of more than 150 attorneys and other staff.
