35 Pre-Med Titans are headed to Michigan Medical Education Day, Saturday October 7th

The University of Detroit Mercy has had an increase in pre-medical students over the past few years. As a result, more future physician have the foundation of integration of their intellectual, ethical, spiritual and social development. It is a great time to be a pre-med Titan.

Michigan Medical Education Day is when all 7 of the Medical Schools in the state of Michigan facilitate an all day free conference for up to 500 pre-medicine students. Building the foundation before application starts in the freshmen year of college. Our University of Detroit Mercy Director of Pre-Health Programs, Carmen Gamlin will be part of the team of presenters for this conference held on the campus of Michigan State University.

We are celebrating good news with our pre-medical students. For the 2022/ 2023 application cycle, 16 Verified Titans applied to Medical Schools ( MD & DO); Twelve out of sixteen Pre-Med Titans received at least 1 offer to attend medical school for an overall acceptance rate  of 75%!

It is a great time to be a pre-med Titan!

University of Detroit Mercy Titans not only have access to traditional applications for Allopathic (MD) and Osteopathic (DO) medical schools, we have specialized recruitment programs to increase pathways to become a doctor.

As a partner school, we have just completed our 4th cycle of the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Early Assurance Program. Each cycle at least one Titan has started medical school with a passion to practice in an underserved region or underserved population.

We ae also partnering with LECOM for the Early Acceptance Program. The 2022 / 2023 application cycle was the first time that Titans matriculated into one of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine’s 4 medical campuses through the Early Acceptance Program.

In addition, any qualified University of Detroit Mercy Titan has guaranteed interviews for Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine for their Medical school, Pharmacy School and Podiatric Medical programs. This is just one more reason why Detroit Mercy is the right foundation for future clinicians.
