Support for scholarships within the College of Engineering & Science is strong, as evidenced in three recent gifts that will support students today and into the future.
- Alumnus Bernard Schlaff ’44, who earned a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering and worked at Lockheed Missiles & Space Company and the Ames Aeronautical Laboratory of NASA, left nearly $3 million to establish the Engineering Endowed Scholarship.
- The CES will establish an endowed scholarship in Mathematics thanks to a retired faculty member who wishes to remain anonymous. The scholarship will be created with nearly $3 million this donor has bequeathed for this purpose in his or her will.
- Finally, the University received a $2.2 million commitment from Detroit Mercy Trustee, Bill Young, ’64, in October to support students in engineering and the sciences.
