Domestic violence awareness and prevention event, Nov. 15

The University TeLL team (Truth Embraces Love without Lies) and Office of Title IX will host Take Back the Night: By Day and Night on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in in Room 124 of the Health Professions Facility. At 1:30 p.m., the group will walk to the Peace Pole in front of the McNichols Campus Library for prayer, reflection and remembrance. Lunch is provided.

This annual event is designed to foster awareness and prevention of domestic violence. This year’s guest speaker is Tricia Gerard, principal attorney of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, Domestic Violence Unit. Assistant Prosecutor Gerard will describe how domestic violence cases proceed through the criminal justice system and will discuss the commonality of physical and sexual violence.

Other speakers include Wellness Center Personal Counselor Erika Budson, DPAC chair Tavala Luciow, Lori Glenn, Tim Hipskind, and Marjorie Lang.
