Dudley Randall Poetry Prize: Undergraduate submissions requested

Detroit Mercy English Dept. Logo

Early in 2021, we have already seen the electrifying, inspiring and healing power of poetry in Amanda Gorman’s performance at the presidential inauguration. Detroit Mercy undergraduates are invited to seize the power of poetry and submit an original work for consideration for the Dudley Randall Poetry Prize. Now in its 51st year, the prize honors the legacy of Dudley Randall, the late poet, publisher and University of Detroit Mercy librarian and poet-in-residence.

  • First Prize: $150
  • Second Prize: $75
  • Third Prize: $50

Submit a poem of 55 lines or fewer by Friday, Feb. 19. The winner must be available to read their poem at virtual Honors Convocation on March 28 at 3:15 p.m. For questions, contact english@udmercy.edu or visit the English department website at udmercy.edu/english.
