An update from Presidential Search Committee Chair Emil Brolick

Dear Detroit Mercy Community,

The search for the next president of University of Detroit Mercy is well underway. Since my last update to the community in September, the presidential position profile has been widely disseminated and announcements were placed in a range of higher education leadership publications and employment outlets. Our search partners at Isaacson, Miller have been in touch with several hundred individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds to develop a pool of qualified potential candidates. Additionally, we have received dozens of recommendations and nominations to consider, including many from members of the Detroit Mercy community.

In keeping with the timeline published on the presidential search website, the Presidential Search Committee met a few weeks ago to begin the process of reviewing the professional profiles of individuals who have either formally applied for the role or who have expressed potential interest in being considered as candidates for the Detroit Mercy presidency. We will continue the work of recruiting and building the pool of candidates through the month of November. In early December, the Presidential Search Committee will turn its attention to reviewing the full pool of candidates and selecting a small group of semifinalists to advance to the next stage of the search process. In January, semifinalist candidates will be interviewed by the Presidential Search Committee as well as an interview panel composed of elected members of the faculty representing each of the University’s seven colleges and schools.

The search for the next president of University of Detroit Mercy is advancing according to plan and I am very excited by the progress being made. I look forward to updating with the Detroit Mercy community as the search advances.

Thank you,

Emil Brolick
Chair, Presidential Search Committee
