Apply for Jesuit Community faculty summer stipends for development

The Detroit Mercy Jesuit Community is pleased to announce its program of faculty summer stipends for course development. The program’s purpose is to encourage and support faculty in developing new courses, or substantially modifying current courses, to advance the Catholic mission of Detroit Mercy.

Two stipends of $3,000 each will be awarded for the Summer of 2023. Faculty from all Detroit Mercy campuses are eligible to apply.

All full-time Detroit Mercy faculty are eligible, with preference to those who have yet to receive a Jesuit Community course development stipend within the past five years.

The due date to apply for the stipend is March 27, 2023. Awards will be announced by April 17, 2023.

Application details:
  • Discuss in three pages or less: the purpose of the new or substantially modified course,
  • the significance of the course or course modifications in advancing the Catholic mission of Detroit Mercy,
  • research that supports the conceptual framework and/or pedagogical features of the course,
  • and the timeline for completion and course implementation.

A letter of support from the faculty member’s Dean must accompany the application.
