The School of Architecture & Community Design (SACD) Dichotomy Journal is accepting entries for the 2026 Dichotomy Student Competition, with student submissions due Oct. 30.
The competition is an opportunity for students to have their work featured in the upcoming issue Dichotomy 30: Elevate, alongside internationally renowned thinkers, designers and architects. The winner will also receive an $80 Visa gift card. The competition is open to all students and submissions may include original artwork, photography, poetry, writing, design and/or other works inspired by the theme of Elevate.
Students are encouraged to gather and work collaboratively to submit an original work that addresses the following abstract:
Elevate is a call to rise–of spirit, mind and purpose, collectively and individually. It is an act of recentering toward an ethical horizon, where the spirit of design, creation and thought coalesce to invite a better today. Elevate is not only to ascend, but to transcend beyond the state of comfortability and complacency. It is an awakening to recognize unseen potential, pursue improvement and uplift the world through ingenuity and imagination. Dichotomy 30 challenges us to confront the urgency of our moment, to participate in the raising of standards, the recentering around the value of life and the ushering towards the fulfillment of our potential. With Elevate we pay homage to the forces that shape change. We reaffirm architecture’s potential to inspire, to transform and Elevate us.
The journal looks forward to featuring relevant and enticing student work in its pages. Winners will be announced Nov. 9.
