Professor of History and Department co-chair Roy Finkenbine gave a talk on “The Improvisational Nature of the Underground Railroad” at the sixth annual Michigan Underground Railroad Heritage Gathering on Sept. 30 at the Michigan History Center in Lansing, Mich.

Finkenbine also moderated conversations with two authors of recent Underground Railroad novels: Cynthia Mullen of Hinges and Kai Thomas of In The Upper Country.
