CLASA presents “Black Art and Literature of Brazil: the Ogum’s Toques Project”

CLASA will host a poetry session featuring the Brazilian independent poetry press, Editora Ogum’s Publishing Company, on Friday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. in Room 317 of the Jane & Walter O. Briggs Building.

Come hear our special guest speakers, Paula Santos and Mel and Guellwaar Adún, as they share with us the story of the movement of African-Brazilian arts and culture, including a poetry reading by Mel and Guellwaar, and songs by Guellwaar. There will also be an overview of the arts scene by Paula Santos, who has been the guide for our University’s student and Fulbright trips to Brazil for many years now. They will share the story of how they started their own press, Editora Ogum’s Publishing House.
