Get a first look at the University of Detroit Mercy men’s and women’s basketball teams on Friday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m., as the Department of Athletics hosts its annual “Hoop Night in the D” basketball event in Calihan Hall. Admission is FREE.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. with free pizza for students with a valid student I.D. The Detroit Mercy Titans fencing team will host a demonstration at 6:40 p.m.
Students and fans in attendance will be eligible to win prizes, including an Xbox One bundle with NBA 2K19, as well as other giveaways.
Both basketball teams will take part in skills competitions, a 3-point contest, dunk contest and other scrimmages and games, including a dance contest between the men and women.
The Titan men’s basketball squad is entering its first season under head coach Mike Davis, while the Detroit Mercy women’s basketball team is under the guidance of head coach Bernard Scott in his fourth season.
