Professors of Chemistry & Biochemistry Elizabeth Roberts-Kirchhoff and Mark Benvenuto co-edited a volume of the American Chemical Society publication, “Environmental Chemistry: Undergraduate and Graduate Classroom, Laboratory, and Local Community Learning Experiences.” Roberts-Kirchhoff and Benvenuto worked with undergraduate researchers and ReBUILD scholars on two of the chapters:

  • Chapter 6: “Synthesis of a Novel Series of Nitrogen-Containing Ligands for Use as Water Remediators, All Incorporating Long-Chain Aliphatic Moieties,” authored by Justin Pothoof, Michele Bhagwagar, Grace Nguyen, Sara Tinawi, Sara Makki, and Mark Benvenuto
  • Chapter 7: “Analysis of Cosmetic Mineral Eyeshadows and Foundations with a Handheld X-ray Fluorescence Analyzer,” authored by Tiffany Tieu Ngo, Sara Thomas, Diamond Stokes, Mark Benvenuto and Elizabeth Roberts-Kirchhoff

Associate Professor of Biology Stokes Baker authored the chapter, “Using DNA Barcoding To Identify Duckweed Species as Part of an Undergraduate Ecology Course.”

Professor of Civil, Architectural & Environmental Engineering Alexa Rihana-Abdallah wrote the chapter, “Mapping of Brownfield Properties in the Detroit Community Using GIS.”
