University of Detroit Mercy’s College of Engineering & Science has instituted a realignment in domestic tuition for engineering programs. This change is effective starting with the summer 2019 term, which begins May 7.
Graduate engineering tuition for domestic students is reduced from $1,607 to $804 a credit hour for online, stackable certificate and traditional master’s degree programs, which encompass the following:
- Advance Electric Vehicle Certificate
- Autonomous Vehicle Certificate
- Systems Engineering Certificate
- Master in Product Development
- Master of Science in Technical Management
- Master in Civil Engineering
- Master in Environmental Engineering
- Master in Mechanical Engineering
- Master in Software Engineering
- Master in Electrical & Computer Engineering
- Doctorate of Engineering
The new tuition structure was the result of a market study that analyzed the needs and interests of employees, business and local industry. As a result, this new tuition adjustment responds to the need to support engineering professionals who are working to adapt to industry disruption in metro Detroit.
Katherine Snyder, dean of the College of Engineering & Science, said the new tuition structure replaces all past discount programs for a simplified process that improves accessibility to affordable, high-quality programs. Because of this, the College is better positioned to help develop the skills, competencies and innovative mindset and provide a competitive advantage for individuals and local industry partners.
“Our high-quality programs delivered in flexible formats and delivery methods provide the re-skilling and up-skilling we hear our industry partners asking for. The engaged mentoring our faculty provide give a real competitive advantage to those looking to advance their careers,” Snyder said.
The engineering program offers the third oldest cooperative education program in the country. In addition, the College of Engineering & Science offers high-quality academic programs available in alternative delivery methods that meet the demands of local industry searching for solutions to significant workforce needs. Additionally, the college is sought out by corporate partners to develop graduate certificates to meet their training needs as well as the local, state and national workforce needs.
