The Rocket Mortgage Classic made history this weekend as the first PGA Tour held in the city of Detroit. Detroit Mercy set up on the 10th hole at the Detroit Golf Club and watched 156 of the world’s top players competing for a $7.3 million purse over four days of competition. University of Detroit Mercy was the only university partnering with the tournament!
All ticket sale proceeds supported the Alumni Scholarship Fund. As the only university in Michigan participating in this event, Detroit Mercy receives exclusive exposure. In addition, this partnership provided a way to show our ongoing support and commitment to our city. As an institution with a dynamic and exciting future, Detroit Mercy had a unique opportunity to highlight numerous accomplishments and points of pride for alumni, corporate partners, foundations and community organizations through this tournament.
