On Tuesday, Nov. 12, the United States Supreme Court heard oral arguments on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Together with other Jesuit partners, the Ignatian Solidarity Network, the Office of Justice and Ecology at the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States and AJCU participated in rallies in support of the DACA program and all of its beneficiaries, including those who attend or are alumni of AJCU schools. AJCU has long supported the DACA program and spoken out on its behalf.
Detroit Mercy is proud to support this important effort. The University Ministry Office hosted public witness Tuesday morning, followed by a prayer service. Both events were free and open to everyone.
The Jesuits and Sisters of Mercy both support the DACA program and the program’s continuation. This invitation and call to action fits well with Detroit Mercy’s mission to create an inclusive space for all students. We hope everyone will join us to show our DACA students how much we care and need them here. If you have any questions, contact University Ministry at 313-993-1560.
