Detroit Mercy recognized Veterans Day (Nov. 11) with a pinning ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom. Students, employees and community members were welcome and encouraged to attend the program. The Veterans Day Pinning Ceremony acknowledges the military service and sacrifices made by our veterans and their families. All members who have dedicated themselves to the armed forces will be honored during the program. Members of the Vietnam Veterans of America (Detroit) Chapter 9, Michigan Veterans Foundation and Detroit VA Medical Center were in attendance, including the following speakers:
- Tanner Beck, Army Health Care Recruiter
- Thomas Armstrong, director of programs, Michigan Veterans Foundation
- Paul Palazzolo, Vietnam Veterans of America (Detroit) Chapter 9
Detroit Mercy students and Gesu Catholic School students honored veterans during the ceremony. The event was sponsored by the Student Life Office and Student Program Board.
