Detroit Mercy students in Public Relations Writing (CST 3400) did not let distance stop them from putting learning into practice. Through online, real-time class discussions, instructor and College of Liberal Arts & Education Director of Recruitment & Communications Alexandra Hichel led them through the process of brainstorming a public service announcement for social media to remind the community to stay positive amid the fear and uncertainty of the pandemic. Once they developed the concept and approved the script, they collaborated on a storyboard. Students then provided their own video recordings based on the script and storyboard and Hichel edited the pieces into the final PSA.
