There has been a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases throughout the country as well as the Detroit area. University of Detroit Mercy has been fortunate to maintain low numbers, thanks in part to the proactive measures set in place prior to our fall semester return. Thank you to all the diligent students and employees for observing Titans Together guidelines and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention protocols.
In a recent announcement, the CDC has revised guidelines defining “close contact.” It is now understood that shorter periods of contact can lead to transmission. “Close contact” is now defined as “spending a total of 15 minutes of close contact with an infectious person over the course of a 24-hour period, with or without a mask, as many are wearing their masks improperly.”
Masks must be worn, covering both the nose and mouth, at all times in buildings, hallways or at your desk. With the upcoming flu season, cooperation is needed now more than ever. Please do your part to keep each other safe and healthy.
