Go Move Challenge Graphic AJCU Go Move Challenge, Feb. 1

University of Detroit Mercy will once again face other Jesuit colleges and universities in the AJCU Go Move Challenge, beginning Monday, Feb. 1. This is a month-long competition to see which campus moves the most. Movement, for the sake of this challenge, is defined as any purpose-driven movement including walking, lifting weights, taking fitness classes, shoveling snow, skiing and more. Logging your movement is based on the honor system. As a smaller campus, comparatively, Detroit Mercy will compete to win the “average minutes per person” category.

What does the University win? Bragging rights for the year. What do you win? The winning department/organizations will win a trophy to display in their office or campus space. Last year, the School of Architecture took first place with MarCom coming in second.

Register online with your name, email and department on Monday, Feb. 1. Join the Go Move Challenge Facebook group to share pictures and motivation throughout February.

Detroit Mercy Biggest Loser Weight Competition graphicNinth Annual Biggest Loser, Feb. 1

The Ninth Annual Detroit Mercy Biggest Loser will begin on Monday Feb. 1 and last through Thursday, April 1. After surveying the results of Fall Quarantine 15 Biggest Loser, UREC will offer two divisions for this year’s Biggest Loser: Teams and Solo. Sign up with a group of three to six people or join the competition as an individual. You can only join one division this year, so choose wisely. Winners will be announced on Monday, April 5 and awarded Visa gift cards.

Just like the Fall competition, virtual weigh-ins will be allowed. Use a digital scale with compatible app or take pictures of your scale each week. Weigh-ins can be submitted any day of the week. The Biggest Loser entry fees is $20 by Monday, Feb. 1 and will be accepted in-person (safely) or over the phone. After Feb. 1, the entry fee will be $25.
