Join University Ministry during Undocu-Student Week to learn about immigration justice and hold sacred space for one another’s stories. Events are held in collaboration with Titan Dreamers and the English Department. Registration information for each event is below. Students who attend both sessions on March 8 and March 10 will be entered into a raffle for a $50 gift card. Guest Speaker: Maria Ibarra-Frayre ’12
Monday, March 8 – 7 p.m. on Zoom
Ibarra-Frayre will share her personal story on life as a DACA recipient and Detroit Mercy student. Ibarra-Frayre received a BA in Social Work and English, was valedictorian of her class and has been an incredible advocate for justice for immigrants.

Guest Speaker: Jose Arnulfo Cabrera from Ignatian Solidarity Network
Wednesday, March 10 – 7 p.m. on Zoom
Cabrera will present on current policy and legislative actions related to immigration, focused on DACA and undocumented youth. There will be an opportunity for small group discussion as well as a Q&A after the presentation. Cabrera is the Director of Education and Advocacy for Migration with the Ignatian Solidarity Network, graduated from Xavier University and is a DACA recipient.

Undocu-Student Open Mic “Night”
Friday, March 12 – 3 p.m. on Zoom
This student-only program is designed as an open, safe and creative space for students to share personal stories about themselves or family members who have experienced migration. Student allies are also welcomed to participate by sharing a poem or song that might express their support or solidarity with our sisters and brothers who have been displaced from their home country.
