CLASA talk features Cardinal Michael Czerny, S.J., April 8

Join the Carney Latin American Solidarity Archive (CLASA) for its annual UCA Jesuit Martyrs Fundraiser on Thursday, April 8 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. This year’s fundraiser will be a Zoom webinar, featuring keynote speaker Cardinal Michael Czerny, S.J., who will present the topic, “Remembering Dean for Tomorrow.”

H. Em. Czerny had gone to El Salvador to help the Jesuit community at the University of Central America after the death of the martyrs in 1989. At that time, he became friends with Dean Brackley, S.J. who had gone to El Salvador as well. Currently, he is Under-secretary of the Migrants and Refugees Section of the Holy See’s Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.

This event is free to students with a suggested $10-$50 donation from other attendees. For the past eight years, thanks to donor generosity, this fundraiser has been able to cover several UCA student scholarships needed to complete their education.

This event is co-sponsored by CLASA, University Ministry, Detroit Mercy Jesuit Community, LatinX Student Association and the Gesu Peace and Justice Committee. For questions, contact CLASA Director Gail Presbey at presbegm@udmercy.edu.
