The School of Dentistry celebrates Juneteenth this month with a health walk and potluck cookout. Juneteenth, or June 19, is the historic holiday which marks America’s second Independence Day. Although a celebration of African American history, Juneteenth remains relatively unknown to most citizens.
On Friday, June 18, Detroit Mercy Dental invites all students and employees to a walk around the Corktown Campus, followed by a parking lot potluck lunch. The Juneteenth potluck will include music, food and children’s activities. Bring lawn chairs and blankets, water, sunscreen and friends to enjoy the music and hang out with the community.
