Alex Zamalin, associate professor of Political Science and director of the African American Studies program at Detroit Mercy, was recently a guest on the podcast Stepping Into Truth: Conversations on Race, Gender and Social Justice. Zamalin spoke with host Omkari Williams about themes in his book, Against Civility: The Hidden Racism in Our Obsession with Civility, including the ways civility has been weaponized against African Americans.
