A message from President Garibaldi on Oxford High School shooting

Dear Detroit Mercy Community:

I ask you to join me in prayer as we mourn the tragic deaths of the now four Oxford High School students who have died and the six students and a teacher who were injured in yesterday’s mass shooting. The lives of these unfortunate victims and their families have been changed forever but let us support them spiritually as they grieve and pray for the recovery of their loved ones.

Tomorrow, December 2, from 1-1:15 p.m., a Prayer Service for the victims and Oxford community will be held in the St. Ignatius Chapel on the McNichols Campus.

I know that some members of our university community and their children have been personally affected by this incident. University Ministers are available for pastoral support by calling 313-993-1560 and our Wellness Center is available for those in crisis. The Center’s number is 993-1562.

Sincerely,

Antoine M. Garibaldi

President
