Detroit Mercy men’s basketball senior guard Antoine Davis set new Horizon League and school records in 3-point field goals made Sunday afternoon and the Titans earned their second-straight road win in a 64-56 win over UIC in Chicago.
Davis entered Sunday’s contest with 347 career 3-pointers, one behind Titan Hall of Famer Rashad Phillips, who held the Horizon League and school marks for career 3-pointers at 348. Davis tied the record early in the contest and then took sole possession of the record at the 14:54 mark of the second half.
The Titans trailed in the contest, 33-21, but used a 22-4 run in the second half to take the lead for good. Davis finished with three 3-pointers (350 career) and scored a game-high 19 points. Junior Madut Akec added 18 points for the red, white and blue.
Detroit Mercy improved to 2-0 in Horizon League play with the victory.
Davis also has 2,220 career points, which is just 99 points behind Phillips for the school record.
On Monday, Davis was named the Horizon League Player of the Week for the seventh time in his Titan career.
