University of Detroit Mercy graduate programs in Health Professions, Nursing, Engineering, Business and Law have once again been ranked among the top national universities in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report’s ‘Best Colleges’ edition.
This is the third year in a row Detroit Mercy graduate programs have ranked among the nation’s best.
The University’s MBA in Management ranked No. 25 in the nation for the eighth consecutive year. In addition, the MBA in Finance ranked No. 34 nationally for the first time. Both programs are administered by the College of Business Administration.
Detroit Mercy’s master’s degree in Nursing also ranked No. 110 and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) ranked No. 119. The Nursing Anesthesia (CRNA) program remained at No. 10 on the list; these programs are ranked every four years. The College of Health Professions & McAuley School of Nursing oversee these programs.
The Clinical Psychology Doctorate program in the College of Liberal Arts & Education was ranked No. 161; it is the same ranking as was given last year.

Each year, U.S. News ranks professional school programs in business, education, engineering, law, medicine and nursing, including specialties in each area. The Best Graduate Schools rankings in these areas are based on two types of data: expert opinion about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research and students.
The data for the rankings in all six disciplines came from statistical surveys of more than 2,150 programs and from reputation surveys sent to more than 23,200 academics and professionals, conducted in fall 2021 and early 2022. To gather the peer assessment data, U.S. News asked deans, program directors and senior faculty to judge the academic quality of programs in their field on a scale of 1 (marginal) to 5 (outstanding). To assess academic reputation in business, education, engineering, law, nursing and medicine, U.S. News also surveyed professionals who hire or work with new graduates.
