Guatemalan immigrant mother shares her story, April 4

Daris Bartolon tells her story of leaving her home in Guatemala for the United States in order to find medical treatment for her daughter and escape perils back home.

Daris Bartolon (middle), with her two kids, sit on a couch.Bartolon’s discussion, “My Journey with my daughters from Guatemala to U.S.,” is set for Monday, April 4 from 11-11:50 a.m. in Commerce & Finance Building, room 138, on the McNichols Campus.

Bartolon’s journey was not without difficulties and asylum cases are not always easy to win, but she received help from Strangers no Longer, the local lay-led support network of Metro Detroit Catholic parishes who are working to offer hospitality and safety to immigrants.

The event is being sponsored by the Carney Latin American Solidarity Archive (CLASA) and co-sponsored by the Office of Title IX and University Ministry.
